Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in America. She is an actress or singer, as well as dancer. Her first appearances on Broadway include the musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. Her performance in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel won her the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in a Play. Ashford has been working on Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust with Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film is part of a Hulu Original and will be streaming on Disney DTC. Ashford's Broadway return will take place in March 2023 when he stars opposite Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The team behind Hamilton director Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail will be at the helm of the production. Ashford appeared as Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy's American Crime Story Impeachment, inspired by the scandal which was involving Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the nation crisis. She was the star of two seasons on CBS Comedy B Positive. It was produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. The show featured Linda Lavin as well as Hector Elizondo as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. The role she played as Essie in You Can't Take It with You earned her Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the originating part of Lauren in Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway credits. Ashford lives in Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver and grew up there.
